More concise recap

My previous blog from last night was information overload. Good stuff there, and lots of theories.. however, I figured I should post a followup that better consolidates the key points. Here's they are..

- The song they played at the top of the episode was "Make Your Own Kind of Music" written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. Performed by Mama Cass Elliot in 1969.

- When Desmond jumps out of bed, it looks like he is either sleeping in a bunk (possibly two people? ETHAN??) or it's a loft with another living area below it. Possible sunlight coming in both by the sleeping area and the dining booth

- Desmond types the NUMBERS into the keyboard near his bed... and the > : | face stops beeping.... This is a different computer than the one Jack was at

- The last two numbers on Desmond's combination lock on his locker: 23, 42

- Desmond is going 16mph on the exercise bike

- The vial on the drug the Desmond was injecting at the beginning was labeled: CR 4-8 15 16-23 42

- The items in the bunker are from several decades. Ex. WWII-era plumbing/electric/concrete in the tunnel (ex. Westinghouse line switch), Technics turntable from the 70s, lava lamp, modern-day front-loading Whirlpool Calypso and Tide & Downy bottles. He is obviously getting supplied somehow.

- Confirmed Hurley was IN a psych ward. Won $114 (11+4=15?) in the lottery 5 mo (5) after he got out.

- When Walt appears, he is dripping wet, no life preserver, wearing different clothes. It is clear that Vincent led Shannon to Walt. Now the best part.. he is speaking in reversed audio! (some people have too much time to figure this out). Here is a link where someone captured the audio and reversed it...

To me it sounds like walt is saying "don't press the button, the button is bad." Sounds reminescent of his warning to them about the hatch. I believe he said, "Don't open the hatch. The hatch is bad!" Could it be the 'Execute' button Jack almost pushed? no computer i know of has an execute button, but maybe it's a special old school government thing.

- Yes, the QUARANTINE was inside the hatch and definitely more pronounced than in the previews. I agree it warning about the OUTSIDE. Besides, why would a quarantined person (if it were the person inside not outside being quarantined) have a cache of weapons in his bunker?

- Locke and Kate discuss and confirm what pulled him into the hole was "a cloud of black smoke."

- Jack's future fiance/wife killed a man in that crash named Adam Rutherford... as in Shannon Rutherford! (also coincidental his name was Adam like Adam & Eve in the cave?) Now whether it is Shannon's father or husband we don't know (we know she was married based on an episode last season). He died at 8:15 (8, 15). He was 57 (15+42?). Sara wakes up from surgery at 2:30 (23?). She has an 8-mo recovery (8).

- That scene is < 12 yrs ago, since Shannon was 8 when she and Boone became steps, and she's said she's 20 now. Sara said in the wedding clip last season that "A little over two years ago, I blew a tire out. Flipped over the center divider into oncoming traffic and was hit head-on by a SUV."

- Interesting that Jack's dad Christian gives Jack the idea of Hope

- Desmond is huge, since Jack met him in that stadium, and it appears to be that same guy living in the hatch. The name and accent is Irish.

- Desmond tells Jack he's in a race around the world. Somehow that is significant

- Des goes on to coerce Jack into "fixing" Sara. "What if you could fix her?"....."You don't believe in miracles?" says Des to Jack....this is HUGE!!!

- Did anyone catch what Desmond last said to Jack at the end of their conversation in the stadium - "See you in another life"? Reminds me of Nadia's writing on Sayid's photo "ill see you in the next life"

- note the sneakers as Jack begins to explore the Hatch.

- Magnet pulling Jack's guncase key. THAT MAGNET IS PROBABLY THE THING THAT THROWS THE COMPASSES OFF ON THE ISLAND!!!!!!!!

- When Jack is in the tunnel by the magnet, it looks like that was a corridor that may have led somewhere that Desmond (or somebody else) was in the process of blocking off permanently (it was boarded up, and it had been about 1/8 cemented off, starting from the top with a few buckets of concrete sitting on the floor. More exploration later?

- a MASSIVE control room with lots of REALLY OLD computers.

- a freeze frame advance on the sequence where Jack's looking at the mural. There are three shots: The initial discovery, a shot of Jack's face, and then another shot of the mural as Jack looks down to the paints. In the third shot, if you freeze and follow Jack's light, you'll see a picture of an eye, then the letter m, and then the word sick just below the m. Put it together: Eye M Sick... I am sick!

- the rest of the mural basically shows the island with a sun in the middle. pictures of houses, a face, an arrow pointing up(possibly to the above ground?) There are a bunch of stick figures an eye, fish symbols. there are a bunch of 4 lines that have a slash through them to like keep track of a score. There is a mad person. The only numbers on the mural were 16, 42 and 108 (which happens to be the sum of all the numbers). Also the letters JD (Desmond?)

- DESMOND holds Locke at gunpoint, as Jack realizes who it is. And what about Locke? He seemed to think it was OK that some Scottish guy was holding a gun to his head. And what happened to Kate? Yah, Locke said that it was OK - but should we trust him on this? He never told the truth about Boone.
