Episode 2.09: What Kate Did

Wow, what a good episode. They really needed a great cliff-hanger, seeing how it'll be 6 WEEKS until the next episode!!! I do believe they succeeded! Can't wait to read the recaps and such on this one. I tried hitting my favorite message board (lost-forum.com, see link on the right panel), but it is down... which tells me it is flooded with traffic right now!

FYI, the next episode is titled "The 23rd Psalm" with a January 18th airdate. It will be Eko-centric. Per TV Guide, it "will shed more light on why the character took a 40-day vow of silence on the island. And producers promise more info on that stick. 'It has its own flashback,' [Damon] Lindelof quips." Based on the preview, looks like a lot will happen when the show finally returns in mid-January... but we'll save that for another blog.

As for this episode, here are some quick observations for further discussion. I'll try to hit the boards again later, but definitely post you own comments and cut-and-paste anything you guys come across....

Kate blowing up her step-dad's house (and him)... who we later find out was her dad

Kate's mom turning her in

Kate and the black horse -- in the jungle (twice), and in the marshall's car

Sawyer telling Jack he loves Kate

Sawyer seemingly getting possessed by Kate's dead father (Wayne) and attacking her, asking why she killed him

Kate kissing Jack

Michael discovering the blast doors in the ceiling of the hatch

Eko and Locke with the missing piece of the film (and I really liked Eko's explanation of where the film came from); as for the film itself, "do not try to use the computer for communication or it could cause another incident"?

Jack talking to Ana Lucia

Michael talking on the computer to Walt?? (how's that for a cliff-hanger?!)

Lost, Episode 9.08: Collision (a.k.a.Old Habits)

This post is a placeholder for discussion after this week's episode. I'll be out of town for Thanksgiving, so who knows what my blogging availability will be. In the mean time, here's the TV Guide description again, along with links to rewatch both the US and Canadian previews for the episode (and yes, they are different).

Episode 33 (2.08): Collision (a.k.a.Old Habits)
Airdate: November 23, 2005
Ana-Lucia-centric. Violece erupts when Ana Lucia and her group stumble upon the other castaways.

You can download previews from these links:
American preview (2.52 MB)
Canadian preview (2.53 MB)
* note:
1) Click on the link
2) Click "FREE" near "Select your download"
3) In the next page scroll down, see the countdown "Download-Ticket reserved. Please wait # seconds."
4) Wait till it finishes and then click on the file name!

Noteworthy from the previews...
* Eko asking for the doctor.
* Sayid tied up and Ana swinging a knife at him (my guess to cut him loose)
* Ana Lucia saying "I killed someone he loves"... "He's gonna come after me"
* Ana and Sayid circling and Ana shoots (another gun?)
* Locke, Jack, and Eko in the hatch.
* Eko and Jack talking about Shannon being dead and Eko saying "Ana Lucia maade a mistake", to which Jack says "What did you say?"... my guess, he is remembering her name from the airport...
* Micheal comes to Sun in the garden.
* Kate holding Sawyer in her arms saying "Sawyer, you're gunna be o.k"

Lost, Episode 9.07: The Other 48 Days

Well, what did you guys think? Kristen was scared by it. We both enjoyed it. I was expecting some gruesome stuff, not "just" abductions. It skimmed through much of the progressions, but what can you expect when it tells their story in one night, whereas it took 31 episodes to tell that story for the main group. Can't wait to see next week's episode...

Here's the next few episodes:

Episode 33 (2.08): Collision (a.k.a.Old Habits)
Airdate: November 23, 2005
Ana-Lucia-centric. Violece erupts when Ana Lucia and her group stumble upon the other castaways.

Episode 34 (2.09): What Kate Did
Airdate: November 30, 2005
Kate's original crime that started her life on the run is revealed. Meanwhile, the survivors lay one of their own to rest, Kate sleeplessly watches over a feverish Sawyer, Locke and Eko make an interesting discovery about the film, Mr. Eko has a surprise for Locke regarding the hatch, and Michael has a mysterious encounter with the computer.

Episode 35 (2.10): Merged
Airdate: December 14, 2005

Episode 36 (2.11): The Hunting Party
Airdate: January 11, 2006

Lost, season 2 episode 6: Abandoned

Ok, so I'm back to being a full-scale Lost fan. After a few slow episodes and the show's three-week hiatus, I was starting to worry, but this episode came through with flying colors. Lots of action and suspense. Walt sightings, great flashbacks on Shannon (made you feel sorry for her and understand why caused her to become such a bitter woman). And, of course, the major character death. And a great looking episode previewed for next week. Welcome back, Lost!

Should I get a chance to hit the boards for observations, I'll add more comments to this post. If anyone still happens to browse this blog anymore, feel free to add your own comments as well!

----
NEW UPDATES:
if people didn't read Kim's comment in this thread, she posted a link for reversed audio of what Walt said. "They're coming and they're close."

11/10 5:15am - are we sure it is a gun wound? Sure we heard a gun shot, and we see Ana-Lucia holding out her gun... but are we SURE that is what killed Shannon? And are we SURE it was Ana-Lucia that shot her? Remember, she's only got one bullet. And also remember there are lots of other handguns and rifles out there, including the one they made a big scene of Sayid putting down in the tent. And why did't Ana-Lucia & company hear Shannon yelling "Walt!" repeatedly at the top of her lungs? For that matter, are we even sure Shannon is dead? After all, Cindy is missing. In typical Lost fashion, what you see very well might not be what it really happening.

Here's a screen shot of Shannon's wound. Doesn't look like a gunshot to me -- at least not a handgun! It's a long gaping slash.

upcoming episodes of Lost

Finally... a new Lost episode coming this week. I was telling a friend that I sure hope this is a good episode, because the last episode was pretty weak and three weeks off is a LONG time. I've had time to enjoy all things non-Lost, so they better hook me in before I drift too far! Someone major dies this week, so that alone should build back some drama!

Here are the premises for the next four episodes. Don't read if you are wanting a total surpise.

Episode 2.06: Abandoned
Airdate: November 9, 2005
Shannon-centric
Per TVGuide.com: A wounded Sawyer might not survive a tek through the jungle with Michael, Jin and the tail-section survivors; Locke's interest in Claire gets to Charlie; and Shannon is again haunted by visions of Walt. Rose: L. Scott Caldwell. Boone: Ian Somerhalder.

Episode 2.07: The Other 48 Days
Airdate: November 16, 2005
The harrowing first 48 days in the lives of the tail section survivors are revealed.

Episode 2.08: Collision
Airdate: November 23, 2005
Ana-Lucia-centric. Violece erupts when Ana Lucia and her group stumble upon the other castaways.

Episode 2.09: What Kate Did
Airdate: November 30, 2005
Kate-centric. As Kate's backstory continues, her original crime is revealed. Locke and Eko make an interesting discovery about the film, and Michael has a mysterious encounter with the computer.
