Heroes, Chapter 8 (1.08): “Seven Minutes To Midnight”
What a great episode. I really enjoyed this one, since it was fast-moving and had lots of plot lines moving at once.
* First and foremost, the episode brought Horn-Rimmed Glasses dude into a new, not-so-evil light (one I speculated and posted about weeks ago I might add!) Apparently his group has been monitoring people with powers for quite some time. We also learned of Claire's origin -- and that her homecoming is the next night. Side note: would there ever be a paper mill in Odessa? I can't think of a place with LESS trees... ;-)
* Mohinder seeing past events in dreams brought on by a child (Sanjog Iyer), whose file he finds in his father's desk. One of the dreams shows his dad being killed -- we see a watch. We also learn he had a sister who was "special".
* Matt and Audrey the FBI chick talking with the radiation dude and figuring out the connection with the tattoo marks and the Haitian.
* The waitress (Charlie) with incredible learning powers, who is brutally killed after a fun scene with Hiro. We see a shadowy guy in the corner use powers to pull a coffee cup to him. We see the same watch Mohinder saw on his father's killer. Hiro then uses his power to go back in time, as evidenced by the birthday photo on the bulletin board. But he doesn't return immediately as promised. Sidenote: why would the waitress, with her incredible memory, need to write down Hiro's lunch order? ;-)
I'm still wondering if this is all on the same timeline. What if Matt is actually in the past? What if the girl he found under the stairs was Claire as a child? After all, HRG tells Isaac that Claire was saved from some incident gone bad. Just something to throw out there...
Lots of stuff in this episode. Can't wait for next week!

"Heroes" Thoughts
1) Kevin - great comments about Charlie having to write down their orders and how many trees there are in Odessa. Hiliarious.
2) Speaking of Charlie, when was her birthday? I'm guessing that it wasn't yesterday. If you were Ando, wouldn't you go see if Charlie died again when Hiro didn't come back? How long would you wait for Hiro? It's gotta be tough to be a sidekick.
3) Also in the diner scene, I immediately thought of Obi-Wan Kenobi when Sylar (?) moved the coffee cup towards him. How does Sylar know where all the special people are?
4) One more thought about the Diner (btw, I love the name Burnt Toast Diner). The diner is located in Midland, TX which is just 25 minutes from Odessa. Will Hiro run into Claire (the cheerleader who lives in Odessa?) I was looking at a map and one could go through Midland to get from Las Vegas to New York City, but it seems like it would make more sense to go through Denver.
5) Does Ted (the radioactive man) remind anyone else of the caveman in the Geiko commercials?
6) Who else thought that Mira was evil when she told Mohinder to come to work for the Genetics Laboratory as long as he left his Dad's work behind? Does she know something? Also, did Mohinder's dad plan on coming back to India at some time? If not, then why did he keep the key to his university desk in the book he carried with him in New York? Or for that matter, the file for Iyer Sanjog (which is an anagram for Erasing Joy - hmmmm)?
7) That also got me thinking - shouldn't there be more people around the world with these special powers (like Hiro and Iyer Sanjog)? Will we see more of them? I think that an upcoming episode will show how these people became special. Maybe it has something to do with something like an eclipse - which only effects parts of the world.
8) At first I thought that the picture of Hiro that Isaac was painting showed Hiro in Nazi Germany (I saw the banner with red and, at first, a Nazi symbol). But then I rewound the tape and looked closer. It looks like the Homecoming banner that Claire is painting (the "G" sort of looked like a swatstika).
9) How does Mr. Bennett (Horn-Rimmed Glasses dude) know that Claire's attack is going to happen tomorrow night at her prom? It's not like she's wearing a prom dress in the paintings?
I got a bit confused when Matt and Ted were talking about their blackouts and bruises, etc. They made the conversation seem like AFTER that is when they started having powers, but Matt already had his power when he went into the bar. He was listening to everyone's thoughts and that's when he couldn't read the Haitian and passed out...
