Lost, episode 3x06: I Do
I like the episode, but it certainly wasn't "THE -- BEST -- EPISODE -- SO -- FAR -- THIS -- SEASON!" like they'd hyped it. In that regards I was a bit let down. As usual, no questions answered, and tons more questions raised.
That said, I did enjoy the episode and it did certainly have some suspense. Did anyone actually believe Danny would shoot Sawyer? I didn't think so. Now THAT would have made it a shocker, to lose Eko and Sawyer in consecutive weeks.
Here are a few random observations that caught my attention:
* Who is Jacob? As in, Danny Pickett says Ben put his life in the hands of Jack, "who wasn't even on Jacob's list". Is he a higher ranking other than Ben or something?
* Why does Danny hate Sawyer so much? Is he just focusing his pain for losing Colleen?
* Whose voice is it Jack hears on the intercom telling him to try the door? Alex's?
* Speaking of Alex, love her with the slingshot taking people out. So where's Karl? Is he really dead after helping Sawyer that first day in the cage?
* What is Ben's connection to Alex? Are they related? He asks if she asked about him right before surgery, and Juliette lies and says no, then tells him Alex was "sent home". Where's home?
* How does Kate know the marshall's first name (Edward), as evidenced during their phone call? Is there more to that story?
* Eko's prayer stick noting to "lift up your eyes and look north" (a quote from Genesis to Moses regarding the promised land), but it is right above a reference to John... making it look like a message directed to Locke.

Random Thoughts (Flashback events):
1. Monica (Kate) and Kevin live in Miami, FL (it said Miami Dade Police on Kevin’s cop car). I could not see a badge number but his nametag on his uniform said Callis.
2. In an episode of the show “Firefly”, Nathan Fillion, the actor who plays Kevin, finds himself married to a criminal who has given him a fake name and drugs him in order to escape.
3. Who sat on Kate’s side of the aisle at the wedding? Couldn’t have been any real family. The wedding takes places after she has killed her father but before she is working on the farm in Australia. Is it before or after the bank heist in New Mexico?
4. When Kate calls Mars she dials only seven digits -- was it a local call? His watch shows the time to be 8:30 and it was night time when she called him (darkness and rain outside the phone booth). I guess the tacos were for a very late dinner.
5. Did not see a company name (Widmore Laboratories) on the pregnancy test. Pregnancy test came up negative. What would she have done if it was positive?
6. Kevin bought them airplane tickets (Oceanic Airlines) to Costa Rica for their 6-month anniversary (since they really never got a honeymoon).
7. When Kate drugs Kevin and leaves his mother's necklace (representing Kate) in his left hand, this is reminiscent of Sun's lover Jae's death, as he clutches the pearl necklace (representing Sun) in his left hand. Did Kevin die, or was he just knocked out for a while?
Random Thoughts (Island events):
1. Juliet tells Jack that Ben’s X-rays were about a week old. This means that Ben had to have had them taken the moment he returned to the Others after his escape (he escaped on Day 64 and Jack first sees the X-rays on Day 71).
2. Great scene in the beginning between Jack and Ben when Jack refuses to help him. When Jack told Ben that he needed his surgery yesterday, it reminded of Season 1 when Arzt told Michael that the typhoon season was coming and that they needed to set sail with their raft yesterday.
3. What is Alex’s fate? And what about her boyfriend and Sawyer’s cage buddy, Karl? Is he really dead? And why was Pickett giving Sawyer the day off?
4. Great emotional scene between Jack and Kate (first time this year). You could just see how much Jack really loved Kate (but could never express it before). It must have broken his heart when he saw Kate and Sawyer holding each on the monitors.
5. Mr. Eko’s stick said “Lift up your eyes and look north.” John 3:05. However, in reality, Genesis 13:14 says “The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, "Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west.””. And John 3:05 says “Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.””. Jack, Kate and Sawyer are on the north side of the island.
6. As soon as Kate and Sawyer started mugging down, I immediately thought of Ana-Lucia and hollered out “Watch out, Kate. It’s bad luck.” But then, at the end, when Pickett was aiming his gun at Sawyer, I really thought that Sawyer was gonna get killed. Now THAT would have been a shocker.
7. I immediately thought that it was Alex on the speaker in Jack’s room. I confirmed it this morning with Wikipedia-Lost.
8. I was surprised that Jack only took one gun. Wouldn’t you have taken as many as you could? It was obviously a set-up because Ben was right there and was very calm. So, was Alex in on the set-up? That goes against her goodness angle. Hmmmm.
9. Did everyone catch the Dharma logo on the hospital scrubs? It was on the right front of the shirt between the pocket area and the shoulder. I couldn’t see the logo, but I am guessing it was the Hydra symbol.
10. Did anyone notice that Mr. Friendly and the Others were very concerned about Ben. That goes against Juliet’s TV message last week that a lot of the Others wanted Ben dead.
11. It was nice of Jack to give Kate an hour head start, but he doesn’t know that they are on a separate island and they have nowhere to go. Then again, Jack did overhear Ben talk about the submarine. I couldn’t tell if Jack wants Sawyer to run away with Kate or not. I’m guessing yes.

1. Lots of action. Kate looks like she elbows the Other behind her. Desmond tackles Locke (or someone else) on the beach. The first episode back is going to be a Juliet-flashback. Should be great.
2. There will be LOST previews during the 13-week run of the new show “Day Break.”
3. There is an interesting Q&A that TVGUIDE did with the creators of LOST. This is just one of the questions: TVGUIDE: You guys have been quoted as saying you're going to drop a "bomb" during the second half of the season. Damon: There are two bombs being dropped, one of which is a character bomb, and that will happen within the first three episodes after the break. And the other is a more significant story bomb, a game-changer, as it were, and that will happen shortly after.
